Another New Day Another.. Oh Dear..

My old, and somewhat rusty, truck rolled down the bumpy drive way. Slowly chugging along while dragging my, just as ancient, trailer behind it with my favorite horse inside. I'm glad Wild Streak was use to all of it's squeals of pain, other wise she would be bagging around in it and be making a big mess.
Finally I braked my truck gently in front of the stable and killed the engine before unbuckling and jumping out. I quickly went to the back and pulled down the ramp then walked inside to my mare who stood calmly, almost dozing, inside. I untied the lead line and started to back her out. Once out, I gave her a pat while muttering, Atta girl. I glanced towards the stables, wondering if anyone would come to meet the new girl or if I was automatically shunned and considered a bad horseman due to my poor truck and trailer. I really needed to put that trailer out of it's misery but I loved my truck with all it's rust included!

Nate had been walking Banshee around the stables, trying to work off the lameness that he often got when it was cold like this. When he heard a truck and a somewhat squeaky trailer that caused Ban to toss his head up and freeze, Nate decided they should head outside to see who it was. Banshee didn't agree, but Nate wasn't about to put him back into his stall.

Eventually Nate drug Banshee outside, the gelding relaxed when he saw it was just a truck. But the trailer was another story, and he quickly backed up away from it. Oh my goodness. It's a trailer, everyone run and hide! Nate said to Banshee, the gelding almost seeming to glare at him.

A boy and his horse appeared in front of the stable. The inhabitance has arrived! I quickly decided to go check it out. I wasn't normally a social butterfly, I'm more shy then that, but if something came down to it where I couldn't get to the stable for a few days I would need someone to watch over Wild Streak.
I walked over to him, my ex-racing mare eager to meet the gelding. Hi, I greeted trying to sound casual and put on a small smile. Well so far so good! I'm Sam and this is Wild Streak, I said rubbing my mare's warm neck but she was too distracted by the gelding. She nickered and trying to reach towards the gelding and boy. She knew better then to move her hooves so she simply stretched her neck out and tried to touch the boy, who was less likely to nip her. Her lips wiggled about, hoping for a treat.

And I'm Nate and this is Banshee. Nate grinned at the mare, she was adorable. Hi sweetie. He told the horse gently, watching Banshee take a step forward to glance at the mare. Hey now, Ban. Nate said, eyeing the horse until he stopped moving. Good boy. See, you can see her from here. Honestly.

This was just the thing that Banshee needed to get out of his current grumpy mood. He reached his nose forward, his upper lip twitching as it always did when he was excited or scared. Or threatinging something, but Nate was pretty sure this wasn't the case.

occ - Don't worry, my muse ran off to Hawaii...Again.

((I don't even know where mine went! lol))

I smiled and was about to reply when a bag then another whine of pain came from my trailer. Wild Streak flinched and tuned slightly to look at it. Even I jumped a bit at the somewhat random noise. I turned back to the boy with a small nervous laugh. Sorry. My mom says it's haunted... I need to put the thing out of it's misery soon, I said adding a light chuckle to my words. Wild Streak returned to look at the boy and horse now. She reached forwards, trying to reached the gelding now while giving a light nicker.

Nate grinned, his eyes flicking to Banshee for a moment as the trailer made its 'haunted' sound'. Of course Banshee took a few alarmed steps back, his ears pinned to his skull. But once the nosie stopped and the mare nickered at him slightly, he was perfectly fine. He came up and stood next to Nate again, his top lip twitching again as he returned the light nicker. After a moment he nudged Nate's pockets until Nate gently pushed his head away. Given up on that, Banshee stuck his nose out near the girl to see if maybe she was a bit more treat friendly.

I laughed quietly at the gelding. Hey boy, I cooed reaching out to pet his noise but Wild Streak, being slightly jealous nudged my elbow, then pushed my fore arm up so it would slide onto her neck. She seemed almost proud of her jealous act. She then tried to nudge Banshee in a playful manner. Needs all the attention don't ya'? I muttered to the mare as I took my head off her and to her lead rope. She glanced towards me, acting as if she was hurt by the lose of contact. I rolled my eyes and put my hand on her neck again and she returned to Banshee and tried to nudge him again.

Nate grinned at Banshee and then at Wild's act of jealousy. Banshee turned around and snagged Nate's phone out of his back pocket. Nate could have sworn he put it in sideways today so he couldn't steal it. Ah well, at least his gloves were still...Not there. Banshee! Nate told him, watching the gelding trot away a few inches with the phone and the gloves in his mouth. Oh, he was so dead. Come 'ere. Nate said, tossing a slight smile over to Sam before he held out a small sugar cube for Banshee, hoping that maybe he could lure him over. But Banshee snagged the sugar cube when Nate wasn't watching, somehow managing to eat the sugar cube and keep the phone and gloves in his mouth. Talented in ways unwanted.

I laughed lightly at the two. I remember the days when I use to put stuff in my pockets. Now I just leave them in my unguarded truck or saddle bag. No one would steal the stuff anyways. It was always worn. Better hope your phone is horse spit proof, I said smiling playfully at the boy. Hold on I'll help ya', I said as I jogged Wild Streak into the barn, cross tieing her. I was planning on giving her a good brushing anyways. Stay and be good girl, I told her giving a light pat then jogging back out to see where the gelding went off to, if he was still there.

He got more character while you were gone. Nate said over his shoulder as he heard Sam come out of the barn. His eyes were glued on Banshee who was out in one of the pastures, cantering happily around. And don't worry, the phone company got tired of me coming in with my horse-spit-slobbered-phone and gave me a waterproof-ish phone. He grinned at her slightly, watching his gloves be dropped onto the ground out in the far pasture. Good thing those weren't my good gloves... He said to Sam thoughtfully, wondering for that fact where his good gloves were.

I smiled at him. How do you wanna get him? Run around like idiots until he becomes so frightened that he drops the phone and runs? I said flashing a small playful smile towards him while I moved to stand next to him and watch Banshee canter around like a small child that got away with something. Or do you want me to hop on Wild Streak and try to get him to follow? I offered. I had a lead line with two clips so I could use it as reins in my truck I could always use. Wild Streak should be good. Though I would be praying she wouldn't buck and try to join Banshee's game.

He'd start bucking before he dropped the phone, I can tell you that. But hearding doesn't sound to bad. I could always grab Salute, my sister's horse, and help you out if you wanted. We'll just say that Banshee isn't to fond of being interupted while playing his games. He said with a grin, putting his hands on his knees as he watched Banshee keep running around. Well, he won't be lame after this. Nate muttered to himself. It was now obvious that the horse was feeling better after meeting Wild.

I smiled and nodded. Wild Streak's an ex racer so if you get him next to the fence I can keep him there while you drive him from behind, I told him. The plan seemed perfect. If we could get him to run along the fence I could have Wild Streak running along and keep the same speed and stop any escape. Wild Streak was trained to run long distances and keep a steady pace but I have ran her in short spurts and she did just as well. Any little pens we can get him into? I asked glancing about slightly.

That could work...The pin that would work best for this is right over there. He pointed to an area that followed down the fence and then ran into the square training pen. If Wild's an ex-racer, I better grab Fancy to help out. She can be a bit spooky but she was a racer just a few weeks ago, so they'll be around the same speed...Somewhat anyways. He said thoughtfully, watching as Banshee just didn't seem to slow down. He ran in a circle this way and then stopped, and ran the other way. By the time they got him inside, he'd be very, very tired. I'm game.
